For those curious and wondering how to initiate LC…the instructions are in the owners manual…and since there’s a digital owners manual embedded in iDrive…you can simply pull up the instructions to see how (or if you have Launch Control) to initiate it.

If you don’t have the options for launch control…the instructions will probably not appear in the iDrive version of the owners manual since it is VIN specific and not written universally to cover everything like the paperback version.

Here’s an example from my 2014 X5 with NBT/ID4 version of iDrive using the keyword search to get the instructions. Also take note that it says LC causes premature wear of components due to the heavy load for the vehicle…so some may want to consider how many times they initiate LC:
