BMW X7 Concept Allegedly Coming To Frankfurt Motor Show

Quote:
BMW are working on their new flagship SUV, the X7, but despite this, it will be a while until we'll see it in showrooms. In fact, the German brand is reportedly planning a concept version to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, according to BMWBlog, where it will be joined a host of other new cars, such as the 6-Series GT, i3 S, and X3.

Challenging the likes of the Range Rover, and with trim levels expected to go up against the British automaker's Autobiography line, the new BMW X7 will have three full rows of seats and a luxurious interior packed with the company's latest technology features.

The X7 will use the CLAR platform, which already underpins the new 5-Series and 7-Series, and it will eventually be adopted by the next X5 and 3-Series. It will be powered by an assortment of gasoline and diesel units, and we should see the range-topping SUV in 30d, 40d, 50d and 50i guises, with the latter employing the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 from the X6.

A plug-in hybrid version is also believed to join the family later on, with a similar drivetrain used in the 740e, meaning a 2.0-liter four-banger and an electric motor, while there's also talk about an X7 M, powered by the new twin-turbo V8 of the new M5.
