The X7 will have a real uphill battle to beat the Q7, at least based on initial looks.
Go drive an XC-90, especially the hybrid and you will convinced of its power train. It was the first non BMW I bought in many years... I passed on the X5 because it was too small. It's not as powerful as my M5, but it has plenty... Volvo should get a lot of credit for what they can get out of their engines.
