I imagine others have better, more detailed advice but I went through a high volume dealer in NC. Actually saw they're a BMW center for excellence dealership, FWIW. I had my x7 m60i within 5 weeks of order. It was effortless and everything went off without a hitch. I was trading in and they gave me more than expected there, but very little off msrp. I paid mostly cash and financed a little to get some rebate/ bmw loyalty credit.
Seems like brokers can get you good deals. But since I was trading also, it didn't work in my favor.
