2019 vs. 2021 X7 - Differences in Software/Parts/etc.

Considering buying either a 2019 X7 40i or a 2021 X7 40i, both with comparable miles. I'm tempted to get the 2019 as it is quite a bit cheaper but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something in terms of spec differences.

I know the cars look identical and have identical dimensions. My question is are they identical otherwise: is the iDrive software version the same? Are the screens, etc. the same? Basically I want to make sure there wasn't some change in the electronics in particular in those intervening two years.

From this article: https://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/x7-2021

The xDrive40i's powertrain gets a 48-volt starter-generator which, surprisingly, worsens its EPA fuel-economy figures; both its city and highway ratings drop by 1 mpg. The X7 also adds a handful of newly standard features, including long-overdue Android Auto compatibility. The previously available Off-Road package, which brought an electronic limited-slip rear differential and underbody protection, is no longer offered.

I have a 2021 X7 40i, so let me know if you have any questions.

I have a new-to-me 2021. I don’t mind the start stop with the 48v system unless it’s stop and roll or having to jump on throttle quick - both are rare instances in my day to day driving.

I love the car. Fit and finish is excellent. I have all options except executive, B&W, DAPP, and DHP.

FYI, Android auto is available on the 2019s as well, since they are running the same idrive software.

Search around and you'll find a list of features/hardware that got dropped during covid supply chain issues. I believe the 2021s were impacted to some degree, depending on build date.
