BumperPlugs (license plate holes) for BMW
I purchased a 2024 X7 40i last month in Scottsdale, but the car itself originated from North Dakota. The car had a front license plate which is not required by law in Arizona.
I removed the license plate which was screwed into the front bumper and order these https://bumperplugs.com/bumperplugs/bumperplugs-for-bmw in my car's colour. The bumperplugs came with a 9/32" drill bit which will enlarge the existing holes and allow me to insert the plugs [so many childish dirty thoughts]. Anywhoo. Has anyone else installed these plugs? Would you enlarge the existing hole to accommodate the plugs? The small holes bother me enough. The large hole would drive me insane if the bumper plugs fail. Thank you for your thoughts. |

as far as "failing", they definitely won't fall out. it's a very tight fit even after drilling the holes bigger. one time i screwed up and had to pull it out and reseat the plug which ruined the painted finish because it was near impossible to pull out. they are like little corkscrews and i think intended to be in there permanently. i only ever had them on leased cars so i dont know how the paint job on the plugs look after 3 years, but during the time i had them i didn't notice any chipping or cracking of the paint . HTH
