X7 crystal drl fogging and not dancing, HELP
Help help help! We have an lci2 X7 40d with iconic glow crystal headlights, when the car was new we could lock and unlock…. With the key and had a 30 to 40 second twinkle dance, however 4 months down the line we have severe condensation, crap building around the crystals and when unlocking/locking the the lights go straight on, no dance or twinkle. BMW dealer has said the twinkle only happens on walk up to or away comfort locking, which I think is crap, they used to dance when using the key. They even ordered and received new crystal drls and was going to fit, but bmw said actually they all mist up😩😩😩 but now we even start the car and we get ‘drl failure’ please can somebody with these drls try unlocking the car with the key and see if they do their merry dance, oh and allegro andante and adagio do bugger all as well, but ok on the back. We are currently on idrive 11/2023.73, so well up to date. Cheers all

I had crystal headlights on my 2023 760. From the moment I got home from the dealership, they had severe condensation. Dealer replaced both headlights and while condensation was a bit less, it never went away. They said "it is normal" and didn't replace it again. After that experience, I decided to skip it on my X7 order. I suggest you take it to the dealer when there's condensation and see what they say. They have an internal bulletin that says if the condensation leads to droplets that starts moving down, it is severe and they should replace the headlights but below that, they would say it is normal

You should take a photo when condensation=water drops are visible in dlrs. This should be enough for BMW to replace them!
I have LCI X7 with production date last days of June and also had same issue with original crystal lights. BMW exchanged them i think in December 2023 and since then no issues. They take notes of s/n to monitor which production of dlrs had issues. Regarding lights "dancing" i think this is correct - it happens with welcome lights when you approaching car. I am not using physical key but i think when i i am close to car and it just opens/closes there is no this welcome light effect. |

How could condensation be normal all the time? It’s only “normal” if there is a design error or manufacturing defect. Hogwash.
That’s like accepting forever water spots on your Waterford Crystal is to be expected when serving. |
