Chipmunks chewed through Coolant Sensor Cable

Can someone help me find the right plug that connects to the coolant expansion tank? Chipmunks chewed through a few inches of the two wires that connect the sensor to the main harness. Staealership wants $700 in labor. TIA!!

See attachment. It is impossible to picture the actual connector without completely tearing it apart, hence the ask for help. Thanks!

While BMW does sell certain connector bodies, there are several other solutions that you should consider first depending on the location of the broken wire relative to the connector assembly.
  1. If the broken wire is close to the connector, and you have enough wire length, then you can remove the contact from the connector body, and crimp on a new contact, then reinsert the contact into the original connector body (you will need the correct terminal crimping tool)
  2. Use a short "bridge" wire, of the same gauge, soldering and protected by heat-shrink
  3. Purchase the whole harness from BMW, and install it yourself

Honestly, item 2 above is the recommended method.

If you are still set on buying the connector itself, you will need to take a picture of the actual connector, as the connectors are based on type, not location, in the BMW Parts catalog. You will need to know your vehicle's MFG date too. You can peruse the catalog here.
