Marquez broke his finger last year and kept racing; the main difference though was Cal had surgery and pins inserted.
Apparently he also had to have surgery on his forearm due to fluid retention. I'm pretty sure the Chief Medical Office at the hospital forced Ducati to not let him race.
I think if it had been up to him, he would've raced.
