If you haven't done so already, you should install the CIC controller knob in your car. It is 1000% functional with the CCC system and all the shortcut keys work. I've installed it, and really, it improves the functionality of the CCC so much more. Most noticably for me is the feeback of the wheel click when you scroll. With the CIC knob, you won't overscroll.
Here's a DIY, seriously do it, a used CIC knob is $150, then buy a new trim piece for $250-$300 or look for a race car part out:

Oh man, I'm doing this, Just wait for my writeup. I have an E93 so I won't be finding a trip piece very easily. I think I'll just modify my stock trim piece with either carbon fiber or fiberglass. And add some additional features to it, Like removing that useless cigarette lighter and ash tray thing, and replace it with USB plugins and possibly an AC adapter if it doesn't look too clunky. Maybe just 2 USB plugs.
