An interesting read. They struggled to choose between the top 2, but the bottom 2 were easy (for them). Interesting article, likely to spark some debate (and hate mail), but I found it worth the read.

Haven't read the article and since I've seen the result and I can probably guess how they came to there conclusion.

I get what they are saying when it comes making a value purchase. A 228 ( or 230) with a limited slip diff is a helluva car and a great daily driver. Actually it's the best " daily driver " in the 2 series lineup probably because it's still light and nimble.... And if you did a track day you would have a ton of " mod money " left over .. But at the end of the day there are two cars on that list selling over MSRP still and those are clearly the ones to own.
Yeah. Their real argument was that it was the most balanced - the others basically had more power than could be used, except on a less technical track - 228i was more sport than muscle. A little weak, but they basically liked that you were always driving it at the edge of its capabilities. Meh.
