It's been doing it since it moved to an independent suspension and serious chassis (rigidity, etc.) in 2010, and really, Chevy has been figuring out handling (better than the competition) since the G8 (holden) C6 Corvette and old CTS-V. It's a great time to live as they are beating the competition (euro, japanese, etc.) in terms of performance, not so much straight, but handling and everything else. The last ZL1 and Z/28 were monsters too and were doing the same thing against the competition and Chevy keeps pinning it higher and higher, which is refreshing.
