Even though the main road trip is over, I'll keep posting follow-up stuff here, instead of creating other threads. Maybe it'll be of interest to others, maybe not.
And if I do any other road trips, I might add to this thread too. Thinking of using The Godfather to explore Alaska this summer. So far, we're having a glorious early spring, and with COVID and the cruise industry canceled for the entire summer, this could be the perfect year for it. Even less tourists around.
Great experience with the BMWCCA rebate. When I submitted the rebate application online, I received a response that it was being approved, and rebates could take up to 3 months to receive. 8 days later, I got another email saying it had been approved, and I could expect a check from BMW in 2-4 weeks. 4 days later, I got the check, a total a 14 days from when I submitted it.
You all ARE BMWCCA members, right? In addition to membership benefits, the vehicle purchase rebate alone is worth the price of admission. All you have to do is be a member for one year ($58), which is shortened to 6 months if you buy a three year membership ($159). Then, when you buy a BMW, BMWCCA will send you a rebate check, which is currently $1,000 for the X7. Best deal going.

If anyone wants to become a member, tell them I referred you, and we both will be entered into a drawing for a free BMW M driving school. My member # is 542226.
In other news, I dropped off the car yesterday at the auto body shop to have the keying scratch repaired. Estimated to get her back on Friday.
