I’ve driven mine for 3.5 years. My kids were 7 and 8 when I got the car. That middle cup holder has never one time been an issue for them or their myriad of friends who pass through the middle on their way to the 3rd row. The plastic cup holder section has nary a scratch on it. My kids have plenty of room to put their backpacks in the middle, and not one of my friends has complained about the lack of room for her handbag. Trust those of us who’ve driven these cars for thousands of hours.
