My initial thought would be to check if the differential fluid has been replaced. Then I would check on brake fluid and when the last oil change occurred. Any used M car should also go through a thorough PPI with a BMW dealer or reputable second party shop. I went with my local BMW dealer for a PPI ($200) because they run the car through their Certified Pre-Owned 100 point inspection.
