Instead of drilling, you can insert a pick tool or micro flathead screwdriver between the silver ring and the edge of the black plastic cap (the face with volume/power inscribed on it). And pry out the black cap. Takes 10 seconds. Just fold a piece of paper around the screwdriver so you don't scratch the silver ring.
