Just swapped the keys, a lot easier than I expected it to be.
For anyone trying to do this, make sure you buy another fob with the correct part number and just be gentle with a flathead/plastic pry tool and have the correct size torx bit.
Turns out someone tried to swap the buttons originally in my key and snapped all the nubs on the buttons but couldn't get them out so during replacement I had a bunch of plastic fall out of my key, swapped the buttons with the new ones and everything works great.
