The times haven't changed. They still make tires that last that long...the tires BMW chooses to use on most of their vehicles in the recent past just don't happen to be among them.

Because we were all prepared for this when we bought into this brand of car. For instance, I like grip. I buy Z-rated Max. Performance Summer Tires ALWAYS. I accept the fact that worn down at ~15K-20K miles is what I buy into. As others have said, run flats don't last long, so that's what you have to accept.
