The only recent BMW that I can think of that was redesigned in 5 years was F85/86. There may be a couple more but I think the standard is still 7 years or longer for a complete redesign. I've spent some time working with auto suppliers and it is so easy to screw up new model launch that I am sure that none of the OEMs want to shorten the redesign cycle.
