Don't worry, you won't have any problem finding a place to get a beer in Austin. Austin has a very eclectic nightlife, with a young diverse crowd. Texas University is right there, with over 50,000 students.

I feel you on Indy. I have been to the 500 and the area is quite boring. But that is the mid-west for ya.
