Horst ( their test driver said the M5's brakes were fading badly and the tires were overheated pretty early on in his lap ( this was a non CP standard brake M5 not sure about whether it had a 155 limiter ) . I imagine a CP M5 with CCB and the newer PSS ( compound has changed since 2012) would have done considerably better. But at any rate looking at the same track same driver comparison the M4 with CCB , DCT , and no 155mph limiter , was much faster .
I'm personally believing that with the Comp Pack, Carbon Ceramic Brakes, and the "newer" Michelin PSS's, the F10 M5 will be under a 7:50 lap time. BMW has officially stated that the Competition Package drops the Nurburgring time of the M5 by a full 10 seconds. What the BMW test drivers times were, we will never know though.
