For instance Horst "only" managed a 7:13 lap in the 918 Spyder while Porsche managed to set a sub 7m lap time (and that was also on a slightly longer version of the Ring than what they use for the Supertest).

Why not when Horst could have had a bad day or was not familiar with the car and since he is familiar with the ring, having done hundreds of laps?

The point is "what the car is capable of" and not relying on the subjectivity of the driver.
