I believe it is more about cost-cutting and reducing weight to improve mpg. Same with removing cargo covers in most SUV and making them a pay-for option. |
I think is definitely part of the equation, but if people really wanted a certain capability (or keep one), the manufactures would find a way to make it happen if it means more profit for them...
