I don't think the X7 needs side steps. It isn't a particularly tall vehicle and the size of the steps do not look that functional going on photos alone. They did a great job integrating them and focused on fashion but it may have impacted function.

Secondly, having had retractable ones and static steps on various vehicles I have learned that static steps are great for ruining your suit pants along with collecting snow, salt, dirt and tar on them.

I would not consider this option or recommend it based on my experience in the past with other vehicles and static steps.

If retractable/hidden steps were available and your family is from Lilliput then I would suggest that for the X7 otherwise skip all around.
