I mean I was raised under the world of mechanical will always be reliable, and fly by wire is just that......

Guess what I'm saying is we as a society have become sooooo dependent on electronics doing everything for us, the simplest of things have become void to most.
I believe they have a person there to take over because they are testing it. That doesn't mean the driver can prevent every possible accident just because they are there, just like we can't when driving non-autonomous cars.
