I've sat in the new GLS (even had a GLE 450 as a loaner which has the same interior) and I'm not a fan of them. I love the Merc sedans and coupes, but find the design language doesn't translate well to the SUV's other than the G-Wagon which has retained its classic looks.
Interior wise they feel a lot cheaper due to more plastic materials/lower grade leathers and weirdly the seat is angled towards the center console and is very obvious. The GLS is likely to have a bigger third row and cargo hold, but it can't really hold a candle to the X5 and 7's interior especially when it comes to materials and quality.
