A tuned 335 might "feel" faster because of the turbo surge but in reality the performance is very close. You'll probably need to go a bit further into modding a 335 than just a tune to get a significant improvement over an M. My old S4 felt faster for the same reason. The huge surge that you feel when the turbo kicks in at low RPM made you feel like you're pretty quick but the M is much quicker than that car was.

agreed and the M isn't just about power, it's a whole different animal than say a 335i, in terms of looks, feel, etc.
