I have owned an 'Efficient Dynamics' 320d for a year now and my daily drive consists a 50 mile round trip which is approx 20% urban / 80% extra urban. Now BMW quote mpg figures of 58.9 combined, however my car is averaging 48 mpg and I dont have a heavy right foot!! I thought it was just my car, but I have had a few loaners over the past 12 months and similar figures are being reported by the onboard computer.

So where are BMW getting a figure of 58.9 mpg from? is this a fairy tale?
I recently also had a 330d for a week and was easily able to achieve 43 mpg- so whats the story here?

Audi quote mpg figures of 48.7 for its 170 2.0 A4 - IS it that case that the 320d isn't actually streets ahead in efficiency as its claimed to be and companies like Audi and Mercedes are simply quoting much more honest figures for every day drivers. - Would love to know what other 320d owners think.
