You need to see sticker on top of your diff. It will say the gear ratio. The replacement diff should have same ratio unless you're intentionally wanting it to accelerate more quickly. If you're fixing the noise, I would suggest keeping same ratio and not cause complications for yourself. It might be hard to snap a picture of your diff's sticker if you haven't removed it yet. Those telescoping mirrors are wonderful to attempt at seeing the sticker. If you are able to see the sticker, get a helper to take a picture of the mirror's reflection.

I did look up your E90 325d and what i found is that is uses a 2.35 ratio but you will need to verify. I would advise taking pictures of your input flange as well as where output 1/2 shaft flanges are and make sure the replacement unit matches. Good luck
