It also depends on the relationship you have with your dealer. When I was shopping for my next SUV, I was choosing between the X5 and X7. Regardless which one I choose, my sales guy said he'd take $2k off MSRP. Apart from the dealer incentives they had at the time (BMW loyalty, etc). As a side note -- I've bought a few cars from them and have also given him business from family / friends over the years. So he took care of me.

In the end I chose the X5 45e because it met my needs and it was also nice to avail of the $7500 federal tax credit
