the car flutters only under load from the 2k to 4k rpm range

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by flutter. Like stuttering? on off power quickly? Sounds like an ignition coil or fuel pump/pressure related issue. How is your fuel system pressure?

If you are describing what I think you are, sort of like a misfire at high RPM, thats probably related to your ignition coil and spark plugs.

As for the hard shift into gear, thats related to transmission. I strongly advise you to find a transmission shop and speak to them. I was going to say that sounds like you need a valvebody rebuild and solenoid replacement, but then I remembered that the 335is is DCT.. So hopefully someone with more knowledge on this unit can chime in.

My only other useful suggestion would be to NOT drive the car hard, especially in a way that will replicate the fluttering you describe or hard shifts. That's the easiest way to start ruining expensive things. As long as you stay below 3000RPM until you get this issue sorted out you'll be fine.
