Yeah had that while the dealer was trying to demo the system during delivery. The BMW genius rebooted the idrive system and it hasn't happened since.
You hold the power button down for about 30 seconds, it will shut off idrive, then you release then hold it down again until it powers back up.
The BMW Genius told me to do that anytime I get anything strange going on with idrive. Just like rebooting your PC when it doesn't work right.
