Supposedly, the current "Individual" options available are some exterior colors (i.e. Ametrin), seat leather (i.e. Full Merino), and interior trim (i.e. Piano Black).
HOW any of those features are causing production delays, isn't clear.
twesslen above reported his dealer says it's because BMW waits and produces several at a time in a bunch on the production line.
