There is some contradictory information in the released spec sheets and if you read between the lines you know that they can squeeze more out of this engine and the redline will be at least 100 RPM higher. In my opinion this is exactly what BMW will do.

The situation would be different if the M3 would also be released in the next months but we are talking about probably more than a year between the availability of the X3M and the M3. I guess that time will tell...
I am fully with you on that. I just think its funny people focus on the published number a lot.

I mean m340i has more hp than the x3 m40i. The m5 had more than the x5 m. Will totally follow the pattern. It is a lot of marketing gamesmanship though. I mean I don't think anyone really thought the F30 335i made 300hp. Or the e90 335i . Those product managers and business analysts are earning their money.
