Staggered tires on 5501x?

First post!

I am trading my 2006 550i for a 2011 550ix M sport this week. I am going to use my current Dunlop 18 inch winter tires for the rest of this winter and then find 19 inch winter tires for next year. My question is: Can I run staggered tire sizes on a 550ix? I like the look of wider rear tires on my 2006 and would like to run the wider rears that are on a 550i (275's) instead of the 245's all around on the 550 ix. Any reason I couldn't use the rims that come with the car for winter tires and buy staggered rims/tires for summer tires?

By the way, I switched to non run flats three years ago on my 2006 for summer and winter tires and will do the same immediatley on my 2011. Bridgestone run flats on my 2006 were a disaster: loud, harsh, and often replaced at $400 a piece when I hit pot holes. Dunlap DWS have been great for a summer tire (worthless in snow though) and Dunlop Winter Sport 3D are great for a winter tire. I glady traded a little handling on on ramps for an acceptable ride quality.
