This was my 5th UUC Shortshift install, 1 on an E30 M3, 2 on E36 M3's and one on an E46 M3 and now my 135i. It appears with each newer model the installation gets more challanging due to tighter spaces to work in and BMW design changes. The instructions supplied with the kit are for the 335i and are straight forward as the always have been.

Everything is going great, until I got to this point, I removed the two clips, (one on either side of the transmission) to remove the aluminum carrier, went to slide the carrier forward per instructions and noticed it did not travel enough to clear the rear part of the carrier from the rubber bush.

It turns out BMW in their infinite wisdom has added a leg which extends downward on the right side of the carrier which based on my experience prevents you from removing the carrier with the transmission in place, I did lower the transmission by removing the 4 bolts holding the transmission in place on the transmission support as per instructions, which does provide a little bit of extra room, all bolts can be removed without catastrophic results.

So without the carrier removed I had to figure how to secure the adapter held in place by the six tiny screws, three on each side. I was finally able to install them by turning the carrier slightly and moving it to the opposing side to install these screws, important to not do not tighten the screws untill all six are started. This method cannot be done unless you remove the two previously mentioned clips. Once this is done the rest of the installation goes as outlined in the directions.
