while i would never want to wish any one this sort of misfortune, it is the first thing i turn to in the bmw magazine. we all enjoy bmws in general as it lives up to its billing as the 'ultimate driving machine,' but in my opinion, its primary function is to take the blow for my family. everything else is secondary. my loved ones are irreplaceable, but our cars are mass-produced by the zillions...always impressed by german engineering when it's really needed.

i'm reminded of my wife's 2003 x5 that got hit at an angle by a hummer h2. it looked bad, because of all the broken glass from the taillight, but was blown away to realize the rear part of the frame moved 5mm to the right and down, while the hummer's entire front driver side hood and frame buckled, windshield cracked, and was totalled...

regardless, drive carefully. this is NOT one thread to feature ourselves in, as much as it is avoidable.
