In late 2001/early 2002 I was into creating "mods" of cars using a paint program, and there were many threads on various enthusiast boards filled with them. Seeing the X7 prototype reminded me of a couple, which I still have. These look pretty lame on modern screens, but back in the day we were more storage and bandwidth conscious. Oh, I'm not a pro artist either.
While BMW is unlikely to use anything like the horrendous lights on the "Bascalade" (green X5 mod), I think I might have been on to something with the grill! The "Bavtek" is just here to remind everyone that no matter how bad you think it might get, there's always something worse.
I'm personally looking forward to the X7, having owned two X5s and a longtime X5 fan, even if the current generation is more of a E70 LCI+ versus a true FXX model. I don't know that I'd consider an X7 as I don't have the need to haul so many passengers, but if it looks great, drives great, and just plain feels great, I might consider one.
