As an Aussie, I love Ricciardo. His success is because he can drive well, and is always there to capitalise on others misfortunes.
But if Max had a reliable car, Dan wouldn't see which way he went.

I think of Max as having the luck Mark Webber did when with Seb. Just seemed to have a jinxed chassis.
