If your wife is getting a minivan (good choice as they are amazingly practical even if they have a bad image/stigma) do you really need an SUV for yourself? I would personally go W222 S-Class as its the best of the large luxury sedans, feels incredibly special and opulent inside, despite being the oldest of its class, and it rides incredibly soft. If you go the BMW route go X7 over 7-series. The current 7er is pretty lackluster and doesn't have any of the sport of the old ones or the luxury of the S-Class and has become pretty ugly, so honestly the X7 is probably a better choice with a more modern interior design and overall cohesive design where the big grills actually work well while still getting a nice large luxury vehicle.
