That is EXACTLY what I would be looking for. Give an option to delete the 3rd row, and instead move the 2nd row back by maybe 8-9 inches. Create a 7-series-like luxury SUV with an extended 2nd row.

Unfortunately, indications are that the choice of 2nd row seating does not change the legroom at all. Time will tell.
