This is a terribly ignorant thing to say. It’s called design cohesion, and it’s damned obvious the interior fit and finish is above the G20. If you want a surprise every time you get into a different vehicle by the same manufacturer, choose another brand - you can be one of the people on the road that don’t know their headlights are off at night. Just what we need.

There is something to be said about getting behind the wheel of any model of a single brand and knowing the ins and outs; it makes it more comfortable and relaxing to drive.

Exactly this is literally nothing new. BMW interiors have all had similar designs in different vehicles for ages. The e46 e39 and e38 are a prime example of this. All 3 interiors may look similar but they all hold different and more features as you move up the latter. Same thing with audi's new interior design, the A6, A8 and Q8 have similar/almost the same design with different features/amenities and the same can mostly be said for mercedes.
