No problem!
I would say just make sure your car is properly jacked up or secured on a lift, that's the most critical part.
If you had gone for a short drive before, the diff oil temp won't be high enough to be "dangerous" and indeed if it's a little warm it would help flowing while draining.
Just careful with the exhaust as is quite near your hands but that's all
I was wearing gloves and eye protection cause you don't want any nasty stuff falling into your eyes as you're facing upwards most of the time
