The 320-330hp variant of the B58 is plenty of power for the X7. The amount of immediate torque in these turbo engines (with small turbines) means they will move just fine in every day traffic. Obviously the V8 would be more fun, but there are even 360-380hp versions of the B58 with over 350lb-ft of torque.

To be honest, the amount of overall power and torque from these turbo engines is probably comparable to the Infiniti QX80 V8 which is obviously NA and would have a more gradual torque curve but has a higher peak value.

C&D did an initial drive in May and they claimed the I6 version drives just fine for what it is. This is a soccer mom car, I doubt most of the owners would care too much whether it came with the 6 or 8 cylinder engine.
