Alcohol is great until you become an alcoholic.

Valium or Xanex both work well, but both require prescription and are extremely addictive. These can be very effective short-term solutions. (You'll need to find a doctor to prescribe it to you to combat your anxiety attacks, or as a preventative measure to avoid you getting the DT's when you quit your 15+ standard drinks a night drinking problem)

If you need a drug long term, your only real option is Antidepressants. For some people they work wonders, for others they just give you nausea. Doctors give them out like candy these days. You need not do much more than walk into a clinic and say "I'm depressed", to get a script for SSRI's.

Exercise works well if you can motivate yourself to do it. Mediation works for some people if you're into that.

Marijuana, Mushrooms and LSD are a great escape from your problems, but can leave you with a nasty hangover; lack of motivation etc. ... Though, with all three of these you probably want to be in a good place (mentally and physically) before you take them, otherwise you may not enjoy the effects. ... on the flip side, they can give you the escape you need from the monotony of an average life.

MDMA, Coke and Speed help you spend more time out partying and doing stuff you enjoy, but can very quickly leave you flat broke.

Stay the f*ck away from Ice and Heroin. It's just not worth it.

If you're going to experiment, follow these two rules:
  1. Never, EVER take a new drug alone.
  2. Never take a drug that seriously affects your judgement (eg. LSD) or is easy to OD on (eg. Coke) alone, even if you've done them 100 times..

All that said, here's the most healthy answer (yes, even healthier than mediation or Exercise):

Identifying and getting rid of the shit in your life that stresses you out, and making time in your life to spend with people whos company you actually enjoy is the best answer to your problem, because this is often the root cause. ... Though, of all the recommendations, this is generally by far the most difficult to achieve.
