Not necessarily if your car came from the factory with the CarPlay option. This is the thread I was referring to in my previous post (post #34 in the thread): https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...095&page=2

My initial assumption is that the car in this post is NOT coded to turn on ID6 based on who posted it (a BMW Service Advisor alegedly), and came from the factory with Carplay enabled - but I could be wrong. My F80 came from the factory with ID5 w/CarPlay which I have coded to ID6. I want to test iOS 13 Beta to verify if my car, which is coded for ID6 will still be able to enable widescreen CarPlay or if I will need to code widescreen Carplay separately.
Your article refers to iDrive 7 present on the newer vehicles.
My 2017 F30 with iDrive 5, came with CarPlay from factory and does not support full screen. I had to code it in order to CarPlay full screen ..I believe similar applies to iDrive 6 (not 100%).
Look closer... Post #34 in the thread I posted, which I specifically called out, stated it is on ID6. That post also has a picture....
