Oil draining question

Hello and greetings to all. I am the new owner of an '11 M3 but no stranger to BMW's.
I have been reading the stickies about oil change routines but dont understand the logic in driving the rear wheels up on ramps.
As I understand, the e90 has a central front plastic jack point and two front side jack points (what do these look like, by the way?). The problem, it seems is that a lot of jacks cant get to the central jack point.
Why not just raise one front side point (as I do on other cars), get under the car, remove the two drain plugs, then lower the car back to the ground. Wait for the oil to drain ( about 4 beers worth), repeat the process and install the drain plugs. Thats sounds like the easiset way to me. I didnt see anyone doing that. Am I missing something?
