Can removed mean replaced? is it likely a bandaid that could mean a larger repair is coming, in which case, i should get the extended?

Can you see where the repair occurred? I'd call the dealer where that event occurred directly to verify. If it was BMW, I believe any other BMW and maybe even BMW NA can also access that record and confirm what happened.
