Compared with e46, e90, F36 these were beautiful evolutionary cars with a design ethos and a theme or themes that aided how those cars DROVE, BMWs were beautiful AND great to drive. Such a shame

Yeah, but a little nuance anyway. The future buyer will not be me, since this is beyond my paycheck anyway. I expect a +200k€ price tag on this beast and I already have to stretch my lease budget to get me into a 60k€ X3.
When you go this high in the market, design can be provocative and disruptive. Those buyers probably won't appreciate too much associations with the lesser BMWs and their heritage?
