We are not using our cell phones as "benchmarks" - we are using our own verified observations AND BMW's own statements contained in Service Information Bulletin SI B62 02 96 which confirms our observations.
And I beg to differ about what "anyone who owns a BMW knows." How in the world would you know what I know?? Fact is, I didn't know and I suspect the great majority of first time buyers "don't know" until they make the same observations AFTER purchase.
There's no value in posts which seek to judge how we should "feel" about the issue - that's a personal thing. This thread is about finding a fix not evaluating feelings.
